Pakistan has disqualified (Banned) TikTok which is China’s video-sharing app. It has been done for the second time in the State. The Pakistani mass media regulators started the move on Thursday after a high court ordered quoting “Unethical and Immoral Content” on the platform.
Pakistani media regulator Authorities did not mentioned
either the ban was momentary or everlasting. The Peshawar high court alleged
some video content uploaded on the Tiktok was unacceptable for Pakistani
society due to country’s values and norms.
Pakistan Telecom
Authority has dispensed guidelines to the service provider regulators to instantly
block access to the TikTok app. As per following
the order from the Peshawar high court.
The court didn’t provide details on it either the ban was temporary or permanent. The high court also said that some videos which were uploaded on the TikTok were unacceptable for Pakistani community and society.
Two lawyers pursued
the ban for videos and application contrary to principled values and moral
ethical values of Pakistan society and nation. They demanded the court to
ban the TikTok application until it fulfilled with the guiding principle
offered by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority in 2020.
The app has previously come under the Notice of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's
advisers, who have said the platform promotes the exploitation,
objectification and sexualization of young girls.
Not the first ban
Pakistani
Government had blocked TikTok last year in October 2020 for a some days but the ban was removed after TikTok organization
assured the Pakistani government they will remove all accounts who were frequently
involved in dispersal offensiveness and immoral content.
Likewise to its neighboring country India,
the authorities have already blocked TikTok following a border conflict with
China in the county of Ladakh.
